David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
Watch orphaned baby elephants take their mud bath and milk bottles at the daily public hour.
About
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants and rhinos before returning them to Tsavo. The public viewing hour at 11:00 is a highlight of any Nairobi trip. Keepers share each calf's story as they feed them.
History
The Trust was founded in 1977 by Dame Daphne Sheldrick in memory of her husband, naturalist David Sheldrick.
Local tip
Wear closed shoes: the mud bath splashes. Photography is allowed; no flash.
